County Approves Insurance Increase, No Additional Cost To Employees

At their meeting last Monday, October 23, the Benton County Commission welcomed representatives Jeanie Cunningham and Janette Pogue from Mike Keith Insurance, Inc., to discuss proposed insurance renewal rates for employee health and supplemental insurances for 2024.
 
Medical insurance premiums have increased by approximately 7.9%. District 2 Commissioner Scott Harms made the motion to approve renewal for medical insurance with Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance, with the county responsible for additional costs in the base plan premium and no additional cost to employees who elect the base plan. District 1 Commissioner Larry Berry seconded the motion. The motion passed by vote: Larry Berry (Yes), Scott Harms (Yes), and Steve Daleske (Yes).
 
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Presiding Commissioner Steve Daleske.  
 
Following the unanimous approval of the prior minutes dated 10/16/23, the commission also recognized the presence of visitor Dave Malecki.
 
After discussion regarding insurance, juvenile officer Jesse Wood discussed the need for security cards in order to access the courthouse facility.  Discussion was also given to the purchase or use of a transport vehicle for the juvenile division.  It was noted that it is not always possible for the sheriff's office to serve in this capacity.
 
Treasurer Rick Renno presented his weekly financial report and County Clerk Susan Porterfield submitted bills for approval and payment, further noting that a budget amendment will be held on November 6.
 
Porterfield also presented district valuation totals for 2024 and reported that the annual Form 11A has been submitted to the Missouri State Tax Commission as required, and districts have been notified of their assessed valuations.
 
Before the conclusion of the meeting, District 2 Commissioner Scott Harms made the motion to accept the bid from Crown Power and Equipment for the purchase of a Kubota mower and additional attachments in the amount of $20,513.04, to be utilized at the courthouse facility. District 1 Commissioner Larry Berry seconded the motion. The motion passed by vote: Larry Berry (Yes), Scott Harms (Yes), and Steve Daleske (Yes).
 
With no further discussion, District 2 Commissioner Scott Harms Ordered that the commission adjourn until I 0/30/2023. Larry Berry seconded the motion. The motion passed by vote: Larry Berry (Yes), Scott Harms (Yes), Steve Daleske (Yes). Meeting adjourned at 12:00 PM.
