John Boise Middle School science teacher Kari Winters was selected as the STEM teacher of the Year by Angler’s Port Marina in Warsaw.
Klaus Fink, president of Angler’s Port Marina, presented a check for $5,000 to Winters at the June meeting of the Warsaw R-9 Board of Education.  The prize money is for Winters.  It is not a grant.
“In the business world bonuses are given for a job well done,” said Fink.  “Our request was for math and science teachers to submit applications telling how they teach and then our committee selected what we though was the best   We want to hire students from the Warsaw district so we want the very best teachers to prepare them.”
Winters teaches sixth and eighth grade science.
“Mrs. Winters makes science fun,” said sixth grader Amelia Roberts.  “We do various labs in her class and it makes learning fun.”
