Ladycats Continue To Roll

A closer-than-it-should-have-been game in Versailles on Thursday night ended in a narrow 6-5 final in favor of the Ladycats and that slim margin may have served as a wake-up call after Warsaw traveled to Skyline on Friday night to face the Lady Tigers in what has become a bitter spring rivalry between the two schools, racking up yet another win, but this time in dominant fashion, 10-0. The Ladycats also hammered Lakeland at their place on Monday night, 16-0.

Back in Versailles, the Ladycats faced an uncustomary 4-0 deficit at the end of the first inning but fought to plate 3 runs in the third and 1 in the fourth to knot the game at 4-4.

Warsaw took the lead in the top of the sixth on a Haylee Cobb triple that scored Sara Miller, but the Lady Tigers matched that with 1 run of their own in the inning to tie things again at 5-5.

With that same score in the seventh, Tanna Howe drew a leadoff walk, stole second base and then moved to third on a fielder's choice by Bri Fellers. Maylee Slavens followed with another walk and Howe would come around to score when Jaylen McCullick singled up the middle on a 1-2 count after fouling off several pitches. Her hit scored Howe easily to put the Ladycats in front for good.

Brylee Brewster induced a groundout and a popout on the infield before fanning the final Lady Tiger for the win.

Cobb finished a perfect 4 for 4 on the night while Adison Sherill and McCullick each collected 2 hits.

Brewster earned the win by going the distance. She surrendered 5 runs on 3 hits and struck out 9.

On Friday night, Brylee Brewster sat down 15 Lady Tigers by strikeout as she helped lead Warsaw past Skyline, 10-0.

Brewster allowed just 1 hit in the game thru 7 innings and walked just 2.

Tanna Howe collected 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate, including a RBI triple in the first to get the Ladycats on the board first. She also delivered another triple in the sixth to score 1 more and finished her night with a single in the seventh.

A single by Mady Reimund extended the Warsaw lead to 3-0 in the top of the second.

Warsaw added 2 runs in the third, 1 in the fourth, 2 in the sixth and then 2 more in the seventh to round out the 10-0 final.

Brewster led Warsaw with 5 hits on the night. She also drove in 3 to aid her own cause. Adison Sherrill and Reimund both finished with 2 hits apiece. Reimund also swiped 3 bases.

Bri Fellers struck out 10 and behind her, the Ladycats cruised to an easy 16-0 win at Lakeland on Monday.

A 7 run first inning set the tone for Warsaw. They tacked on 2 more in each of the second and third innings before plating 5 more runs in the fourth to nail down the 16-0 mercy rule final.
