Letters To The Editor

Dear Editor,
I read a recent LTE complaining about the public’s attempts to restrict or ban certain books from public libraries.  The letter cites data from the American Library Association (ALA).  First, the ALA is just one more organization that has been taken over by the far left.  The recently elected 2023 president, Emily Drabinsky stated the following in a social media post, “I just cannot believe that a Marxist lesbian who believes that collective power is possible to build and can be wielded for a better world is president-elect of the ALALibrary.”   She states the following from her own website, “The consequences of decades of unchecked climate change, class war, white supremacy, and imperialism have led us here.”  Any question about her agenda?  The most recent data available to the public on the ALA website is from 2021.  The top 10 most challenged books are described as sexually explicit, profane, and/or violent and are targeted to children.  Thirty-nine percent of book challenges come from parents, 24% from library patrons.  Political and religious groups account for only 10% of challenges.  SOS Jay Ashcroft has proposed an Administrative Rule that would hold libraries accountable for keeping age-inappropriate material out of the hands of minor children.  Why would we expect any less?
