Richard Blaine Bacon

Richard Blaine Bacon, age 79, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away February 21, 2023 at his home.  He was born on October 23, 1943 to Esther and Jewell Bacon in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He attended Central High School and Lafayette High School in St. Joseph where as a Junior he would join the United States Naval Reserves.  Upon his high school graduation he would begin his active duty with the United States Navy.  While in the Navy he spent 11 months and 22 days stationed in Antarctica where the temperature were -53o F.
In 1967, Richard began his 43-year career working as a machinist for the railroad.  He moved to his home in Warsaw in 1990.  On April 22, 1995 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Tolliver in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Richard and Dorothy would open, own and operate the Pigs Tail and Humming Bird Tea Room on Main St. in Warsaw from 1997 until their retirement in 2014.
Richard loved to fly fish where he tied his own flies and even make his own fly rods.  He would even be invited to Silver Dollar City to display his talents to the public.  He was also heavily involved in the Benton County Republican Committee. 
Memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 3:00 P.M., Monday, March 6, 2023 at Reser Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Bowman officiating.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M..  Interment to be held at Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw, Missouri at a later date.
