Samuel Boyd Davisson, age 97, of Warsaw/Cross Timbers, Missouri, died February 23, 2024 at the Hermitage Nursing Home in Hermitage, Missouri where he had been a resident for the past 6 years.

Boyd was the third of six sons born to Cora (Cox) Davisson and Roy Davisson on January 29, 1927. He grew up on their farm south of Fristoe and attended elementary school in a one room Schoolhouse name Liberty located south of the farm and attended Cross Timbers High School.

After high school the Davisson family went to Washington state to work picking apples in the apple orchards. Returning home after the picking season, Boyd joined the Army and completed Basic Training at Camp Roberts in California at the age of 18. In June of 1946 Boyd served in the post was (WWII) occupation of South Korea where he earned medals of Rifleman, Army of Occupation, Japan Victory Medal and Over Seas Service bar and attained Sergeant rank in Korea where he served as a Surgical Technician. He returned home in 1947 and worked at the Westview Hotel, Cafe & Gas Station in Warsaw. Boyd ran the gas station for one year until the owner sold the business. He then started to work for E.C. Bishop and Son Custom Gunstocks in Warsaw where he worked for 43 years, retiring at the age of 65.

Boyd married Jean Gemes on October 3, 1950 and together they raised two sons, Sam, bornin 1953 and David in 1957. Jean and Boyd were married for 40 years. Jean passed away in 1990 from liver cancer. In 2004 Boyd married his high school sweetheart Lorietta Smith Guier and they had twelve and a half happy years before her death in 2004.

Boyd was a member of the Cross Timbers Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years until his health forced him to stop serving in that way. Jean and Boyd were active members of New Home Baptist south of Warsaw where he served as Deacon. He loved sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the K.C. Chiefs. He was loved by many and always ready to play a card game or croquet.

Boyd is preceded in death by his wives, Jean Gemes Davisson and Lorietta Smith Gier Davisson, his parents Roy and Cora Davisson, 4 brothers Tommy, Stanley, Harold and Bill and one grandson Samuel Micah Davisson.

Survivors include his three sons, Sam (Patti) Davisson of Sedalia, Missouri, David Davisson of Miller, Missouri and Reggie Guier of Florida, 5 grandchildren, Tabitha Davisson, Rebekah Davisson Ellingson (Chad), Stacey Davisson White, Taylor Davisson (Haley), Bobby Davisson, great grandson Samuel Ellingson, one brother Joe Davisson of Warsaw, Missouri, 3 sisters-in-law, Velma Gemes of Stewart, Alabama, Joan Gemes Trader (Bob) of Liberty, Missouri, Karen Gemes Garnier of Bates City, Missouri, many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Reser Funeral Home on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. Graveside services and military rites will be held at the Fristoe Cemetery in Fristoe, Missouri.
