Borman Introduced As New Lady Cards Basketball Coach

Posted
New Lincoln girls basketball coach Brendan Borman has wasted no time getting to know his team and planning shoot outs and open gyms. He hopes to have around 15 girls when the season starts which would be an upgrade on previous seasons. Borman is a very approachable young man and should be a good fit for Lincoln.
He played college ball in St. Louis and transferred to Missouri where he was the team manager.
He knows how to score with a 1,000 career points under his belt and he still holds two school records at North Callaway High School. He scored 31 points in the fourth quarter of a game and made 18 free throws in a game. Impressive stats indeed which means he knows how important free throws are to success. He also was on the short end of things with just two wins in his freshman year compared to 21 in his senior year.
Better yet, we will let him tell his story.
"My name is Brendan Borman and I am the new Lincoln Lady Cardinals basketball coach. I am originally from Kingdom City, Missouri but have lived in Sedalia the past six years working at State Fair Community College. My wife, Skyler Borman, is a Speech Language Pathologist for Sedalia 200. We have one son Miles (2) and a daughter Mackenzie (0) who was born this month.
I am excited to be teaching 5th and 6th grade at Lincoln Elementary next fall. I will be teaching Social Studies and Language Arts.
This is my first head coaching position. I am highly competitive. However, I hold myself to a high standard on and off the court. Through wins and losses, I will expect my players to value sportsmanship and their opponents.
Once I took the Lincoln coaching job, the first person I wanted to talk to was Marlin Hammond. When you think of Lincoln Lady Cardinal basketball, he is the example of what hard work, dedication, and consistency look like within a basketball program. Lincoln is fortunate to have many athletic and educational programs. I want to establish Lady Cardinal basketball through core values of hard work, leadership, attitude, and discipline.
As far as team goals are concerned, I don’t want to commit to a specific number of wins. I want our girls to play hard game in and game out and the wins will come. I’ll do my best to have them ready for competition this winter and it starts with scrimmaging and open gyms in the summer. My goal is to collectively improve throughout the season and do what I can to put them in the best position to succeed. I do want to beat Cole Camp. I heard we might be rivals.
Since taking over as coach, I have jumped right in to meeting the girls and having them play as much as possible."
Lincoln will start the season off in the Warsaw tournament and draw either year in and year out  powerhouse Skyline or the defending state champs El Dorado Springs. Lincoln plays a tough schedule and Coach Borman wants to pull an upset along the way.
