Dorothy Ellen Brown, 96, of Cole Camp, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Good Samaritan Care Center, Cole Camp. She was born on February 5, 1928, on a farm north of Cole Camp near Cheese Creek, Missouri, a daughter of Isaac Luther "Jack" and Orpha Lucille (Sidebottom) Inman.

While growing up, she attended several country schools before finishing at Cole Camp. Dorothy enjoyed school and had many fond memories of the long walks to school with the Brown kids. Dorothy was no stranger to hard work, being able to harness a team to running a cultivator to raising large gardens to help feed her family.

On February 11, 1946, at Warsaw, Missouri, she was united in marriage to her childhood friend, Roland E. Brown. The couple made their home in Cole Camp and were blessed with the gift of eight children: Kenneth, Janice, Darrell, James, David, Linda, Bob, and Connie.

She was a charter member of Ozark Tabernacle Church near Cole Camp. Dorothy also worked outside the home for the tent factory in Versailles, International Shoe Factory in Windsor, Lamy’s in Sedalia, and was a housekeeper at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp, retiring in 2001.

She is survived by her children, Janice Ellen Brown of Windsor, Darrell L. Brown and Donna of Versailles, James L. Brown and Mary Lou of Cole Camp, David E. Brown and Kathy of Kirksville, Linda S. Palmer and Jerry of Clinton, Bob L. Brown and Wanda of Lincoln, and Connie L. Siercks and Duane of Lincoln; brother, James E. Inman and Mady of Ruidoso, New Mexico; seventeen grandchildren, Daniel Scott Brown, Darrell Brown Jr., Jody Fergerson, Paul Fergerson, Robert Fergerson, Dennis Mefford, Wesley Mefford, Angela Forrest, Jeff Brown, Phillip Brown, Beth Plate, Melodie Showalter, Michael Palmer, Terry Palmer, Nicole Susan Garrett, Mary Ellen Siercks, and Kirstie Siercks; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Orpha Inman, her husband, Roland E. Brown, son, Kenneth R. Brown, sisters, Beatrice Marie Anderson and Helen Marguerite Howe, and brothers, Lloyd G. Inman and Robert F. Inman.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp with funeral services to be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Vansel officiating. Burial will be in Inman Memorial Cemetery near Cole Camp. Pallbearers will be Jody Fergerson, Dennis Mefford, Darrell Brown Jr., Jeff Brown, Michael Palmer, Nicole Garrett, Melodie Showalter, and Kirstie Siercks.
