William Chester Parr, 82, of New Franklin passed away February 2, 2024, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
He was born on August 7, 1941, in Spencer, IA to John and Millie Faulkner Parr. William (Bill) married Beverly June Stull on May 21, 1961. To this union two children were born, Deborah June Parr and William Steven Parr.
Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church in New Franklin. He was active with the Boy Scout Pack and Troop 63 for 25 years. He was Troop Scout Master for many of those years. Bill was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows joining Far West #4 Lodge on October 30, 1978. He was Past Grand Master for the Missouri Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Past Department Commander for Missouri Patriarch Militant and Past Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment of Missouri. Bill retired in 2007 after being employed with Ameren for over 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Stull Parr of the home; a daughter, Deborah Parr Laupp (Darren) of Columbia, MO; a son, Steven Parr (Alicia) of Fayette; grandchildren, Michael Wayne Laupp (Mari-Jean Louise), Rebekah Nicole Laupp and William Charles Parr; step-grandchildren, Staton Michael Zaner, Emily Marie Zaner and Christian James Zaner; great-grandchild, Clark Hubert Laupp; siblings, Joan Purevich, Creighton and Lee Parr of Warsaw; sisters-in-law, Christine Howard and Wilma Keightley (George) and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services honoring Bill’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 7 at the United Methodist Church in New Franklin with Rev, Michael Keith officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, February 6 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.
Interment will follow the service at Shiloh Cemetery near Quincy, MO.
