The Cole Camp Bluebirds have been unpredictable at times  this year in football, basketball and baseball. Head Baseball Coach Brendan Rusk said, "When we are good, we are very good and can beat most area teams. It just hasn't happened enough this season."
On Thursday, they lost to arch rival Sacred Heart in the third place game of the Kaysinger Conference tournament, 6-5 in Sedalia.
It was tied at 5-5 after three. Cole Camp scored 5 in the second as Reid Harrison, Drew Burke, Chase Von Holton and Dylan LeCroy all drove in a runs. The Gremlins scored in the fourth on an inside-the-park homerun by Tanner Damlo and their pitching would hold the Bluebirds in check the rest of the way.
Gentry Dieckman went 5.0 innings and gave up 6 runs. Drew Burke pitched an inning.
Caldwell went 5.0 for Sacred Heart allowing 5 runs. Carter came in and shut the door over the last 2.0 innings striking out 4.
Cole Camp made 2 errors and Sacred Heart 4.
On Monday, Cole Camp lost to Knob Noster, 10-8. Knob rallied for 4 runs in their seventh at home to erase a 2 run deficit. Von Holten took the loss on the mound.
On Tuesday, Cole Camp traveled to Northwest and came away with a 16-5 victory. Gentry Strathman stole 4 bases. Tichinir  took the loss going  5.0 innings giving up 9 runs. Dieckman got the victory going 2.0 innings.
On Thursday,  the Bluebirds lost to St. Paul Lutheran, 11-7 at home on a game where the old adage, "baseball is a game of inches" came into play at various times. Dieckman was back on the hill and gave up 3 runs in the first on 2 walks, 2 hits and the help of an error.
The boys in blue would rally for 3 of their own in the bottom half with Harrison reaching on an error by the shortstop, a hit, a bunt and a pickoff at first going astray.
In the second, Dieckman got the first man, struck out the second, but a three base error in right put a man on third. Dieckman would strike out the next batter to end the inning.
Cole Camp would score 2 in the second to take the lead.
St. Paul would score 3 in the third, 1 in the fourth, 1 in the fifth and 3 in the seventh.
Cole Camp scored twice in the seventh but it was too little too late.
Christian Bobzin, who is going to Missouri for baseball, went 2 for 3  with 3 walks.
Strange game as both team had 5 hits and 6 errors. St. Paul stole 11 bases. Harrison, Von Holten  and Dieckman had 1 each for Cole Camp.
Dieckman went 3.0 innings, struck out 4 with 4 walks. Kolby Bohon went 2.0 as did Drew Burke.
James Bastista went 6.0 and Jayden Maggert went 1.0 for St. Paul.
