The Cole Camp Bluebirds, 21-7 beat Russellville 73-41 to win the Class 3 District 8 title on Friday night in Stover. This was their second district championship in as many years as they defeated Stover in three overtimes in Cole Camp a year ago.
Seeded first, Cole Camp received a first round bye.They probably needed it after losing to Stover in their last game, 56-45. They had beaten Stover 51-37 in the consolation game in the Kaysinger Conference tournament and expected to play them one more time in the finals.
Russellville surprised Stover and took on the Bluebirds for the title. Cole Camp had beaten Russellville earlier in the season, 64-32.
This time around, Ethan Shearer had 24 points and 12 rebounds, Reid Harrison and Gentry Dieckman each added 16. Owen Ives held Russellville's 21 ppg scorer scoreless on the night in their championship victory.
Cole Camp beat a four win Skyline team, 64-42 in the semifinal as Dieckman had 25 and Shearer contributed 18.
