Cards Baseball Season Ends In Windsor

It was an up and down baseball season for the Lincoln Cardinals who finished 9-17.
They lost in the finals of districts to the host school Windsor, 7-3 last Wednesday night .
Senior Caden Smallwood went out with a bang as he hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give Lincoln the early lead. 
Neither starter lasted long as Windsor's Hall went one third of an inning before Eaton took over the mound duties for top seeded Windsor.
The Greyhounds would tie the game with two runs of their own in their half of the inning.
Kaleb Mundy went two innings for Lincoln giving up two runs on two hits while striking out one.
The Cardinals were their worst enemies as they recorded eight errors on the night.
Levi Campbell came in for an inning striking out one.
Then came the surprise of the night as junior Connor Lynde appeared on the mound. He had been out all season after being hurt against Sacred Heart in district basketball when a player fell on his shoulder  He had surgery and had  his arm in a sling for several weeks.
He pitched fairly well but gave up a run in the fourth and three in the fifth and one in the sixth. The southpaw struck out nine in three innings of work.
Lincon had tied the game at three in the fifth before the Windsor eruption in their half of the frame. Kelly doubled and scored on a sacrifice and error.
Windsor committed only two errors on the night contributing to their hard fought victory.
