Drehle Projects Early Starters For Lincoln Cardinals Football

Posted
The Lincoln Cardinals are coming off a 6-3 season of a year ago. On paper, Lincoln could be very good.  A good freshmen class will have to fill some roles.
Cardinals head coach Brad Drehle has been working the boys hard in the weight room this summer and it could prove to be the big difference in how they perform on the field.
Their biggest question mark will be whether the injury plagued Connor Lynde can reach his form from last year.
Without Lynde, the Cards are very good. With him, they could be a Final Four candidate. Their arch rival, Cole Camp will have a say in the matter as they also could be very good this coming season.
Coach Drehle has revealed his probable starting line up, barring injury, of course.
If everyone is healthy,  it would be the following on offense:
T Steven Kranz - Myles Harms
G Christian White - Isaac Komm
C Jacob Plumb - Dallas Drake
G Ely Tolliver - Ben Eckhoff
T Dallas Drake - Mathew Cook
TE Mack Hesse - Larry Roberts
H Kyle Eckhoff - Camden Everhart
Slot Kaleb Mundy - Xavier Smith - Dawson Parrott
Rec Darren Robert - Chase Young
RB Ross Johnson - Anthony Srader
QB Connor Lynde - Riley Sanders - Kyle Eckhoff
Punter - Connor Lynde - Riley Sanders
K - Not sure yet, Connor, Jacob Plumb, Camden Everhart, or Riley Sanders. Hopefully one will win the job
On defense it appears that it will be:
N - Christian White - Dallas Drake
T - Steven Kranz - Jacob Plumb
E - Ely Tolliver - Ben Eckhoff
M - Ross Johnson - Larry Roberts
S - Camden Everhart - Jayden Kelly
W - Mack Hesse - Noah Siebert
R - Chase Young - Anthony Srader
BC - Xavier Smith - Dawson Parrott
FC - Kaleb Mundy - Dawson Parrott
FS - Kyle Eckhoff - Dawson Parrott
Lynde can run the ball and scramble. He was a feared kickoff and punt return man last season. Freshman Dawson Parrott could be the same.
Freshman Riley Sanders may have their best arm. He will be throwing to a trio of capable receivers in Eckhoff, Hesse and Mundy.
Ross Johnson is fearless and could break some rushing records if the line holds up and they should do just that.
Question marks will be their kicking game and how well the freshmen adapt to varsity ball.
In any event, it will be a season to remember.
