Have I Got A Line For You!

Georgia’s Governor said he won’t call a legislative session to impeach the DA who charged The Donald. Said he’s going to follow the law and the Constitution. Sounds like a grand idea except Fanni ran for office saying, “She’d get Trump.” Remember another candidate who was found to have broken the law?  She was never prosecuted under the theory that “No reasonable prosecutor would take such a case to court.” Say goodbye to the notion of a reasonable prosecutor and hello socialism! In the meantime, President Biden said the ever growing crisis at the border is, “My predecessors fault.” Uncle Joe blames Donald for most things and yesterday I ran across an article titled “Whatever It Is, Donald Trump Likely Did It.” It asks among other things, “Was Donald Trump on the Grassy Knoll?” and “Did Trump use a time machine to beam back and kill Abraham Lincoln?” Won’t be long until The Donald is blamed for the crucifixion too. Say what you will, but unlike our current President the last one seemed to know what was going on and wasn’t sniffing anyone’s hair or looking for ice cream. They didn’t have to tell him which way to walk either. What a surreal time we live in.

Haven’t been to a Missouri Press Convention in some time but will try to attend this year in St. Louis. I used to attend every year and it was fun to meet press people from all over the state. They’ve mostly alternated between K.C. and St. Louis, once in a while Columbia.  Wouldn’t mind a Prosperity Sandwich at the old Magnolia Hotel and see Union Station again. St. Louis is very different from K.C., though I like them both. K.C. is more laid back and prettier with its sister city a bit more eastern in atmosphere. Much of K.C. has excellent planning and zoning. St. Louis often has one nice block adjacent to a run down one. Speaking of old, read a book on the Revolution and found this: George Washington owned “Western Lands” in what later was Ohio and farther out. It’s believed that George W.  may have come west, by river as far as the present location of Cape Girardeau. And JWB told me  the hamlet of Lewis, just a few miles from Clinton on Highway 52, had Howell Lewis a relative of either George or Martha (I forgot which) as one of its first settlers.

Here’s a good idea. The police department in East Liverpool Ohio continues to release “controversial pictures.” Several years ago they released a photo of a couple who passed out in their car from using heroin. Their child was in the backseat. The Police Chief said he wasn’t concerned if the picture embarrassed anyone, it was more important for people to see the devastating effects of this drug. Good for him. Too many deluded people want this stuff legalized. It was banned a long time ago for a very good reason. On the other hand, at least they were wearing their seat belts.
