Have I Got A Line For You!

Well, here’s a surprise. The Secret Service closed the case in the White House cocaine investigation. What a scary time we live in when law enforcement is more afraid of upsetting the Biden’s than “We the People.” Of all the excuses given for shutting it down, this one jumped out as particularly RIDICULOUS; they couldn’t conduct interviews of potential cokeheads known to be in the vicinity, because it would infringe on their civil rights. UNBELIEVABLE! The Secret Service said they had no evidence to approach them. Tell that to the hundreds of folks rounded up by the FBI for just being in the vicinity of the Capitol on January 6.  Amazing we have the technology to analyze hair off a pizza crust, but we can’t look at cameras in the White House.

Speaking of technology, the story of the Gilgo Beach Serial Killer has been fascinating to follow. They nailed Rex Heuermann from a single strand of hair left on a discarded pizza. Heuermann’s Long Island neighborhood has been flooded with people looking at his home. One woman from Boston brought her pet pig. The words disrespectful and tasteless come to mind. This wasn’t a movie; these were real life victims. What is the point of going to see his house? It's like watching a traffic accident on the highway and holding up the route. Sometimes it seems like the whole world has turned upside down.

Read an article yesterday that we have a big shortage of skilled trade people. Not enough young people are training for these jobs. It doesn’t help that the President went against the Supreme Court to forgive student loan debt.  He said this was “widespread relief.” For WHO? It’s called how to buy votes with taxpayer money. Socialism sure is grand. Like Rome, we’ll have plenty of people to cheer for the lions, but no one to repair the aqueducts.

Niece Gabrielle fixed fried green tomatoes at a family breakfast on Sunday. This is an old southern dish and folks, its good, if you like things tart-sweet. You slice the tomatoes and dip them in flour, with salt, pepper and a bit of sugar. Fry in bacon drippings. Great with scrambled eggs. These were a staple in my great-grandparents home. They also had mackerel for breakfast, probably in winters, though I don’t know. Great-grandfather White used to order mackerel from the east coast and it came in wooden boxes and he would poach it.
