Orville Eugene Gaylord, age 86, of Edwards, Missouri, passed away at Bristol Manor in Warsaw, Missouri.  He was born on New Year's Day in 1937 to William and Nona Gaylord in Warsaw, Missouri.

He grew up in Warsaw, later moving to Windsor, Missouri where he was employed at the Windsor Shoe Factory and later for George Stiles Cattle, Co in Windsor.  He would eventually move on to work at Lake City Ammunition in Independence, Missouri where he retired in 1992.

In 1990, he would purchase a farm in Edwards where he lived for the next 33 years before moving into Bristol Manor.

Besides Orville, he was affectionately known as "Orlyn" to many family members and friends. He was a kind and generous man known to help others. He loved to mentor young hunters who were interested in  hunting on his farm.  Watching deer and turkey out his window was a highlight in his day. He especially enjoyed having friends come to hunt and play cards all night, with great anticipation for the following day.  You could always expect a smile and a story when he was present, his true pleasure was to be around others.  Playing cards with several friends weekly was very important to him. We heard he played a "mean" game of pitch!

He recently started attending the Evening Shade Mennonite Church. He enjoyed the fellowship on Sundays but also the delicious food made by the members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mildred Hunt.

He is survived by one son, Ed Gaylord, and his wife Rhonda of Green Ridge, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, Miya Snook (Mike) of Independence, Missouri, Maleah Perkins (Will) of Green Ridge, Missouri, Amanda Watson (Cory) of Knob Noster, Missouri, Bryce Gaylord (Sami) of Columbia, Missouri, 7 great grandchildren, Ayden, Ayla, Jaxon, Kendal, Harper, Dean and Addie, one brother, William "Bill" Gaylord II, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A special thanks to John and Debbie Shumate and Becky Simpson.  These close neighbors checked on him often, brought him food and always took time to visit. He was able to remain in his home a little longer with their help.

He will be missed by many friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at South 65 Event Barn, 22980 Mather Road, Sedalia MO 65301.  In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to donate may do so to Promedica Hospice at 150 S.
