Bobby Dee “Bob” Jackman of Edwards, Missouri, youngest son of James “Dick” and Bernice Jackman of Warsaw, MO, went home to be with the Lord on September 7, 2023, at Truman VA Medical Center in Columbia, MO where he was Honorably cared for by many Veterans and staff, surrounded by his wife and loved ones.

Bob was born in Sedalia, MO, on April 2, 1946. The family moved to Washington in late spring of 1946, and returned to Fristoe, MO in 1960. During his youth he and his siblings were expected to help on the family farm, tending to cattle and hogs.  He graduated from R-6 school (8th grade) and went on to graduate from Warsaw High School, where he excelled in basketball, in 1964. The 1963-1964 Warsaw Wildcats are considered one of the best basketball teams in Warsaw High School history.

Following his graduation from Warsaw High School, Bob proudly served in the United States Navy from 1964 -1968. He served as a Boiler Tender on the USS Forrestal CVA-59, becoming a surviving crew member of the historic fires engulfing the ship on July 29, 1967. He returned home to Warsaw and worked as a technician in Kansas City for a short time after, before venturing to the oil fields of Oklahoma. During this time, he met and married the true love of his life. Bob and Lynn (nee Cowley) Jackman were married in Enid, OK on July 7,1978. The pair recently celebrated forty-five wonderful years of marriage. In the late 1980’s they moved to Wisconsin where Bob started a new career as an environmental specialist. He continued in this profession until he retired in 2007. In 2017, Bob and Lynn returned home to Missouri.

Bob and Lynn both relished any opportunity to travel, camp, or go boating with one another. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and watching the wildlife, particularly birds. He loved to cheer on the Green Bay Packers and watch most ball games. He was proud to support his family members at their games or events, regardless of the time or distance. Bob was continuously sharing his wisdom and teaching the next generations. One of his favorite pastimes was sharing stories of days gone by with his friends and family. He would often offer loved ones the chance to go “Snipe Hunting” with their Dad, Grandpa, or Uncle Bob.

You will hear from his friends and family that his storytelling abilities were legendary, and that the love shone for them was immeasurable. As we say goodbye to Bob, let us remember the laughter he brought, the love he shared, and his stories which will continue to echo in our hearts.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, James “Dick” and Bernice Jackman, four sisters; Betty Jane Crowe, Vonnie Fay Smith, Grace Ann Hallman, and Evelyn Jackman, two brothers, Clifford “Bus” Wayne Jackman and Gerald “Bub” Dean Jackman and three grandchildren, Jamie Spooner, Mauricao Spooner, and Carlyn Nicole Jackman.
